Quantlab

Quantlab is an automated proprietary trading firm founded in 1998 by Ed Bosarge, a former Rice University mathematics professor, and Bruce Eames. The firm trades exclusively with its own capital, and says that “science and technology have driven trading decisions for over 20 years”.

Headquartered in Houston, Quantlab also operates from Austin, New York and Singapore. Trading exclusively for its own account removes the client management and fundraising work that occupies much of the industry, letting research and engineering teams focus entirely on strategy quality and execution.

Culturally the firm is deliberately collegial rather than internally competitive: “decisions are driven by science and technology” and staff work in teams on hard problems. Quantlab points to a “20+ year track record of consistent success” and to immediate feedback loops, where employees “see how your work impacts the bottom line, immediately, every day”.
