About AlphaGrep
AlphaGrep is “a quantitative trading and investment firm” founded in 2010 by University of Pennsylvania alumni Mohit Mutreja and Parshant Mittal, who returned to India after working at global hedge funds with the aim of building an Indian-origin quant firm. It researches and develops algorithmic strategies using advanced mathematical and statistical techniques.
The firm trades “all asset classes on 30+ exchanges globally” and describes itself as among “the leading market makers and amongst the top market participants by volume on several exchanges and products globally”. Alongside high-frequency trading it has built out medium and low-frequency capabilities, and launched a separate investment management arm.
AlphaGrep now employs over 300 people with backgrounds in engineering, mathematics, computer science and physics, spread across Mumbai, Bengaluru, Gurugram, London, Singapore, Chicago, Dubai and Shanghai. Its stated mission is to “make financial markets more transparent and efficient, while leading meaningful lives and realizing our potential to the fullest”, and it says it values “risk taking and out of the box thinking”.
