Jump Crypto

Jump Crypto is the digital asset division of Jump Trading Group, the Chicago research-driven trading firm that has been operating for more than twenty years. It was formally launched in 2021 and describes itself as “builders of blockchain technology revolutionizing open, community-driven networks”.

The division works across three functions. Its trading arm identifies “real-world constraints and deep market insights through active market participation”. Its engineering arm builds open-source crypto infrastructure, most visibly Firedancer, an independent validator client for Solana. Its investment arm provides “capital and resources to help projects scale”.

Jump Crypto has been a significant technical partner to major blockchain ecosystems including Solana, Phantom and Consensys, and publishes research alongside its engineering work. It draws on Jump Trading’s low-latency trading and systems engineering expertise, and recruits from the same quantitative and systems backgrounds.
