We have the following information: head = 8 cm tail = head + 0.5 * body = 8 + 0.5 * body body = head + tail = 8 + tail We can substitute the third equation into the second, so: tail = 8 + 0.5 * (8 + tail) tail = 8 + 4 + 0.5 * tail 0.5 * tail = 12 tail = 24 cm So, body = 8 + 24 = 32 cm So the total length of the fish is head + body + tail 8 cm + 32 cm + 24 cm = 64 cm
