About the Firm
Recruiter: "What do you know about our firm?"
Solution
This is an interesting question because it clearly reveals whether candidates have thoroughly researched the firm. In many industries, it's acceptable if you don't know every detail about the company you're applying to, but in trading, that's not the case. Companies want candidates who have a deep understanding of their firm and can articulate why they believe itβs a good fit for them. From day one, firms will invest a lot of time, energy, and money in you, so they want to ensure you'll enjoy your time there and won't be tempted to leave after theyβve invested in your onboarding and training.
To prepare, talk to people who work there, research the company online, attend guest lectures or exploration days at their offices. How does their onboarding program look? How would you describe their working culture? Do colleagues socialize after work, and is that important to you? Do you prefer a corporate environment, or something more relaxed? Are they already a leading, large organization, or a smaller firm where your entrepreneurial mindset could make a significant impact? You should be able to answer all these types of questions and determine why this firm is the best fit for you.
