Behavioral Interview Questions

Fit, motivation, and HR questions decide more trading offers than most candidates expect. Some of the topics are covered in our question bank. Practise live in a mock interview with industry professionals to cover all kinds of topics.

  • 1-on-1 mock interviews
  • 600+ questions in the bank

Behavioural rounds at trading firms are not soft-filter fluff — they reveal whether you have genuine curiosity about the industry, a clear story about 'why trading', 'why this firm', and more. Many highly intelligent candidates fail at exactly this stage: weak motivation, or not knowing which topics a recruiter is actually listening for.

Unlike brain teasers or mental math, behavioural questions have no single model answer — the strongest preparation is a live conversation. That is why we offer 1-on-1 mock interviews with interviewers who have sat on the other side of the table at top trading firms, alongside our full question bank covering every technical topic.

How to prepare

Behavioural answers are personal, there is no model answer to memorise. Two ways to get ready:

What you get in a mock interview

A real-world interview scenario, run by people from the industry.

Expert Interviewers

Industry professionals with years of experience in trading and hiring at top firms, they know exactly what recruiters are looking for.

Realistic Scenarios

Market making games and technical challenges that accurately simulate what you'll face in real trading interviews.

Personalized Feedback

Detailed feedback on your performance, including strengths and areas for improvement, to help you refine your approach.

Customized Focus

Choose which aspects of the interview to focus on — from technical questions to HR discussions — based on your specific needs.

Why practise these

Trading firms want people who know what they want, and why they want it. It would be a loss for everyone if after six months it turns out that the candidate is not a fit for the firm. This could be for various reasons: cultural fit, less interested in trading than expected, and many more reasons. These questions test whether you have done the work of understanding why you want the seat.
