Fruit Market Making Game Explanation
Welcome to the Fruit Market Making Game! Ready to put your mental math and market instincts to the test?
How It Works
You'll be working with two bags of fruit โ Bag A and Bag B โ each containing apples and oranges. Your goal is to trade based on the market value, which is calculated as:
(Sum of apples from both bags) ร (Sum of oranges from both bags)
For example:
- Bag A: 2 ๐, 5 ๐
- Bag B: 6 ๐, 9 ๐
- Market value = (2 + 6) ร (5 + 9) = 8 ร 14 = 112
Making Trades
The game will present you with a bid and ask price. Your challenge is to:
- Buy (click the ask) when the price is below the true market value
- Sell (click the bid) when the price is above the true market value
For instance, if the market value is 112:
- Bid: 108 (you should sell here - it's a good price)
- Ask: 110 (you should buy here - it's below the true value)
Strategy Tips
- Calculate quickly: The faster you compute the market value, the more trades you can make before the next update.
- Watch for updates: The number of apples and oranges updates regularly - stay alert!
- Manage your risk: Consider the size of your positions and don't overextend.
- Try different settings: Adjust difficulty levels and game parameters to challenge yourself.
