What is the Optiver NumberLogic Test?

The Optiver NumberLogic Test is the name of the sequences test that’s part of Optiver’s first round test. When people refer to Optiver’s NumberLogic Test or Optiver’s Sequences Test, they refer to the same test.

Introducing the Optiver Sequences Test

Our new Optiver Sequences Test is a training tool that’s designed to help students like you nail those tough sequences in trading interviews. With a focus on mimicking the real Optiver NumberLogic test’s difficulty, this comprehensive training tool will help you to be well prepared for your upcoming interviews. Not only for Optiver, but for other firms as well.

What sets our training test apart? It’s the attention to detail. Optiver’s sequences tests are renowned for being one of the most challenging. By preparing with our training tool, you’ll not only be ready for Optiver’s interviews but also for sequences tests from other firms. This isn’t a ‘monkey sees, monkey does’ type of training tool. The type of questions (in terms of how the sequences are structured) mimic exactly how the real test is. You’ll still need to recognise the patterns during the real test, however, we truly believe that launching our Optiver Sequences tool sets us apart in terms of how accurately the real test is mimicked.

At the end of each quiz, you’ll have the opportunity to look into the questions. At the bottom of each question, you can find an explanation of each sequence.

Instructions of the Test

The goal of the test is to score as high as possible. The scoring mechanism is as follows:

• 1 point per good answer
• -1 per wrong answer
• 0 points for skip
• If you score 15 points or more, you should be well enough prepared to apply at either Optiver or different firms.

The answers will be presented in multiple-choice form. You can skip an answer. If you skip an answer, no points will be deducted. Every good answer gives you one point, and every wrong answer gives you -1 points. Guessing is not recommended, because it can negatively contribute to your final score. It’s not required to provide an answer on each question, so it’s possible to skip a few questions. For example: if you answered 24 out of 26 question, of which 20 are correct, your score is 20 – 4 = 16. With 15 points, you’re on the safe side to pass the test. You have 25 minutes to finish the Optiver NumberLogic sequences test.
