Round 1 – Online Assessment

Account required to view full content

The online assessment is the first step after you apply to IMC. IMC emails you a link to it, and you complete it at home. The first test has no mental maths: it measures how you think rather than what you know. For the Amsterdam Quantitative Trader internship and some other trading roles, a short maths test follows. The online tests:

  • SHL assessment
Two parts: a personality questionnaire with no time limit, then SHL’s Inductive Reasoning test: up to 15 questions in 18 minutes with shapes and patterns.
  • HackerRank technical assessment (Amsterdam)
Four questions with 3 minutes each, on probability and maths brainteasers. Quantitative Trader internship candidates get it a few hours after the SHL test.

You need to pass the SHL test to move on. For internships, the next step after the online tests is a first-round call with the recruitment team. US internship candidates have not reported the HackerRank test. Check your invitation email for the tests you are asked to take.
