Jane Street’s trading process starts with two or three interviews with a quantitative trader, of 30 to 60 minutes each. They are called phone interviews, but many take place over Zoom or video. If Jane Street calls you by phone and you expect a poor connection, ask for Zoom ahead of time. Interviews take place on weekdays during local business hours.
The rounds are almost purely technical. After a short introduction to your interviewer, the rest is problem solving, with at most a brief question on why you are interested in trading. There is no coding in the phone rounds.
