Overview
Akuna Capital's first online test for Junior Trader candidates is the HackerRank Trading Test: 30 sequences first, then 30 probability betting questions, on one 28-minute clock. There is no break between the two parts: the probability questions follow the sequences on the same clock. At about 28 seconds a question, careful work on the sequences leaves little time for the probability half, and one candidate only found the probability questions after finishing all 30 sequences. The probability questions are framed as bets: you win $1 if an event happens, and you enter the price that makes the bet fair. That price is the probability of the event, and for a bet that pays a random amount it is the expected payout. This test gives you short probability and expected-value questions from our question bank instead, with typed answers: the same maths, asked directly. To work on one half on its own, pick Sequences, 30 questions in 13 minutes, or Probability Betting, 30 questions in 15 minutes. Together they make the 28 minutes of the full test: finish the sequences in 13 minutes and 15 are left for the probability questions.
Game Phases
1
Sequences first Questions 1 to 30 are number and letter sequences. Type the term that comes next.
2
Then probability betting Questions 31 to 60 are short probability and expected-value questions from our question bank. Type a whole number, a decimal, a fraction such as 5/12 or a percentage, and give a decimal to at least 3 significant figures.
3
One clock, free navigation Both sections share one 28-minute clock and there is no break between them. Jump to any question with the numbered chips, skip and come back, and submit when you are done.
4
Pace yourself You have about 28 seconds a question. Skip a sequence you cannot crack quickly, so the probability half gets its share of the time.
